Grilled meat is always a hit. Even the barbeque ritual itself is usually guaranteed to bring a cosy summer vibe. In this post, we let you in on a secret trick to give your meat an extra boost of flavour that will make sure to impress your guests!
The trick itself is quite simple: grab your favourite herbs and lay them straight on the grill before roasting your meat. It gives off an incredible scent around the grill and infuses your meat with a delicious smoky taste of herbs.
Here is how you do it
Start out by soaking the herbs for a few minutes before adding them to the grill. If you are using charcoal, put the herbs directly on the coals when they are ready. After the initial smoke has cleared a bit, put on your meat and let the herbal scents work their magic. The taste is not intense, but enough so that you will notice the smoky notes of your favourite herbs.
Which herbs to use?
Rosemary and sage are good choices as they can take the heat when wet, and also, the tastes usually work well with most meats. However, you can always experiment with your own preferred herbs.
The herbs do not need to be all fresh – they still hold great flavour. In this way, it is also a good way to make use of the last leftovers from herbs that would otherwise have been discarded. Enjoy!
